What is CBD?
CBD is the commonly used abbreviation for cannabidiol – a compound found in hemp and marijuana. CBD sold for consumption is derived exclusively from hemp and is required by the FDA to contain less than 0.3% THC.
What forms does CBD come in?
CBD can come in a variety of different forms and extraction types. The most common ways to use or consume CBD are in tinctures, capsules, or as a topical cream or ointment. As for extraction types, CBD can be extracted from hemp in three different ways:
CBD Isolate – 99.9% pure CBD
Broad Spectrum CBD – CBD + cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids, with 0% THC.
Full Spectrum CBD – CBD + cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids, and small amounts of THC.
How does CBD work?
CBD affects the body’s endocannabinoid system. This system plays a role in regulating a variety of different bodily processes and functions1 including:
Early research has shown that CBD works in concert with other cannabinoids, such as THC, through what is known as the Entourage Effect2. This effect allows CBD to better target the body’s endocannabinoid system, potentiating its effects.
Will CBD get you high?
NO! Unlike THC, CBD is completely non-psychoactive, meaning that you won’t feel “high” while taking it.
What does CBD feel like?
It depends! Many people take CBD to help them manage stress, others use it to help them fall asleep, and many use it to help manage physical discomfort. What CBD feels like to you will depend on the amount and type you take, as well as your own body!
